Alderwood System to be on the Intertie March 18-20th

Aderwood System will be on the City of Tacoma Intertie - March 18th - 20th

Valley Water District will be completing the PLC and VFD replacement project March 18th thru March 20th which will require shut down of the pump station.  During this period the Alderwood System will be served by the City of Tacoma Intertie.  As many of you know, this may result in decreased water pressure during that period of time but water service should not be interrupted.  Please contact the District immediately if you are out of water service during this period.

If you have any questions or cocerns regarding this project please call the District office at 253-841-9698 or e-mail service@valleywaterdistrict.com

 Thank you

General Manager

Special Note:

The PLC is a Programmable Logic Controller - the PLC is an industrial computer that controls and monitors the function of the well and booster pumps.  The existing PLC was installed in 2001 and has gone far beyond its intended useful life.

The VFD is a Variable Frequency Drive - the VFD will be installed to operate one of the existing booster pumps which will allow for smooth consistent pressure set points rather than the fluctuating pressures sometimes experienced during peak summer demand.
